where do assessments come in to the equation? arent they half ur hsc mark?

You are inputting aligned HSC marks which have already taken into account your moderated assessment mark.
Assessment + Exam / 2 = HSC Mark.
Assessment + Exam / 2 = HSC Mark.
so, they take your hsc exam mark, the one you did on the say you sat the last exam. they use this to align your assessments (because there is no other way to compare assessments different school have been giving). then use ragerunner's equation above.
