I know uni starts like next week but I still have time to change so I’m asking this last minute one last time because every time I ask I don’t get an answer thats helpful

Should I do aeronautical engineering at USYD or actuarial studies/computer science double degree at UNSW?

I like both but not sure if the job market is actually cooked or not for comp sci.. preferably which degree has better job security and makes money that will adjust with the economy if that makes sense . I’ve also heard aeronautical engineering has bad job opportunities and therefore low pay

Soz if I sound shallow cos I’m like mainly worried abt makinf big bags icl 😭

Both actuary studies and aeronautical engineering have good job prospects if you're willing to work in adjacent fields. Lots of actuary studies students go into regular finance jobs and engineering students typically find themselves in consulting or other business fields. As for computer science, from what I've heard its kinda oversaturated at this point. If you wanted to work really hard, doing actl + comp sci would be a good path into quantitative finance, but that field is extremely competitive at the moment. I don't think you can really look at either degree and say straight up, this one is good and this one is bad.

As a graduate you're more than just your degree.

Synopsis though:

Aeronautical Engineering:

- Niche Job market
- Less job opportunities
- Good degree for getting into other business fields (i.e consulting and such)
- More stable job than finance fields (Though this still depends on the company)

Actl/Comp sci
- Small job market atm in the specific degree
- Large potential market if you move into finance or some other related field
- More likely larger pay, but a less stable field due to cut throat nature of business

not at all. why would stuff related to aerospace be any more relevant to business any more than mechanical engineering?
