Like everyone else, im currently doing my enzyme assignment write up. Our teacher has given us the option of choosing which prac we wish to emulate with the enzyme catalase and a substrate of liver.

I was wondering if the pH, temperature of substrate concentration tests would be easier considering:

1- The enzyme and substrate i have been given

2- Ease and speed of experiment (speed is a biggie as we need to write up the discussion in the period)

3- Amount to write about in discussion

4- consistanct regarding how likely my results will follow what is expected.

Thanks in advance :D

I've only done the pH and temperature prac (substrate concentration prac is for our assessment task). However, pH is faster and less dangerous in my opinion. The amount I wrote for both pracs in the discussion was about the same. The down side is, pH is rather easy to screw up. Temperature on the other hand will require constant monitoring of the thermometer, the stopwatch etc. would be pretty dangerous if you happen to be clumsy and burn yourself with hot water. You'd also need to change the water constantly for the temperatures not at SLC.

So yeah, in a nutshell, I'd go for pH.
