Does it matter??

Try getting any job thats difficult enough, just be open to any job if you are after the pay in a job if that is why you are asking.

And i don't think major supermarket pay rate vary alot anyway.

You're going to get a rude shock if you apply for a place purely on the basis of their pay. I think you'll find that most pay nothing more than minimum wage, because they have enough people applying that they don't need to make it any higher.

Lets put it this way. If you've just finished school and looking for a job, DON'T goto a supermarket. They look for school-children say 15 year olds, so they don't have to pay as much. Supermarkets are just after-school/weekend jobs.

ummm supermarkets are open during the day and at night till midnight you know..
we have heaps of uni students at my work and about 15 people who work daytimes (who are old mothers)(this is just on checkouts.. though.. theres older people in all departments cuz all 15 year olds are in school)
my friend is 17 and she gets 10.40 i think for 18 year olds and more its 13. something

Yes I do know, I work in one thanks.

But what i'm saying is, they want to employ younger students so they don't have to pay them a large rate. It's cheaper for the company that way.

Yup sure is. Apparently coles pays the most, followed by kmart, although it's alot less than coles. (that's what a friend told me)

heres a tip when applying to coles that my friend did when you fill out the application form there is a box that say DOB if under 21, just leave it blank and you will get the full pay... she has been getting it scince just after the HSC now and they havent noticed yet. Although you many not get away with it if you look really young, but you could at least just add a year to ur age for slightly better pay :D
