i work full-time, but i also go to uni and i don't pay board. i've had this discussion with my parents, and they said i don't need to pay board although we're looking to extend our house in which case, my sister and i will take on the additional mortgage. but i'm happy to do it. they took care of us all our lives, and mum still cooks and cleans up after us and dad picks us up from the station after work or uni. the way i see it, if i pay board they don't have to work so hard to pay the bills and any additional money, they can take holidays with. they always look after us - let them relax a bit.

I pay $50 a month.. and I earn about 800 a month..
we have a boarder living in our house who earns $45,000 a year and he only pays $100 a month..
its ridiculously cheap...
but really not in ratio to our earning..
I think board should be 10% of what you earn a week.
