it holds quite a good meaning in it, if you studied it, you would find that Yolen actually did it quite nicely choosing a very good fairy tale to fit into a historical story.

i just read the book yesterday.....
its so sad... my mums side of the family is polish n my grandma tells me stories similar about the war... just made me start crying to know the book isnt all fiction and these things did happen
