Hi guys I know this may seem like a bit of a rant, but hear me out.

My school has the investigating science textbook, it is a fantastic book with clear explanations, questions and complete solutions to all questions. I also personally own the maths in focus textbook which is another fantastic book with complete solutions.

After reading the sample chapters I decided to also personally buy the biology in focus book. However, They don't include solutions in this book. Which is fine, as I thought they just sold it separately. However, it is only available to teachers.

I did some research and found that is a semi-common practice in textbooks, they do this to prevent students from finding the answers as to not cheat with homework given to them by their teachers. This is ridiculous though, students who personally buy the textbook, or other adults who simply want to use the textbook for learning have no way of getting access to the answers.

It seems like Nelson has stopped this practice with their new books such as the investigating science book. However, they still haven't applied this to their bio book.

I went and contacted the authors on the cover of the book, on how to get the solutions. They replied back, saying the only way to get the solutions, is by asking a teacher or student whose school has the textbook and has access to the solutions.

If you are a teacher or student who has access to the bio in focus textbook solutions, please let me know. I love this book and I'd really like the solutions to it.
ye pretty retarded lol

Yea and what is really frustrating, is that the biology in focus is a really good book, one that I genuinely enjoy studying.
And I’ll gladly even spend $200 just to get the solutions, but they don’t even give you the option to buy it.
Btw, Do you have the bio in focus solutions?
no

Dude you’ve asked for the solutions about 4 times online and I doubt anybody has proper solutions as they are extremely hard to obtain for BiF. Besides for most of the exercises, the questions are comprehension based so you can just look within the section... otherwise just search up the answer online if you don’t think you’re right?

But some of the questions are extended response questions, ones that I need the answer for to ensure I’m doing it right. There are also some questions that are vague and I don’t understand, so I need the solutions to solidify my learning. Some questions also don’t have answers to in the internet or when I try rereading the book.

I’ve already tried studying the textbook without the solutions and have encountered all these problems
Either ask your teacher to mark your responses or just practice with trial papers (which do have solutions).. Also for bio most questions are just comprehension like ethos said so you really dont need specialised answers for (but for say physics where there are more problem based questions answers are preferred).

The "check your understanding" sections, the chapter reviews and the module reviews, is what I need answers for.
So yes I'm seeking the answers to the chapter review section, but also answers to the other sections as well
What's intriguing is how easy it was to get the textbook itself for free. Getting the answers seems like a bit of a dilemma though 🤔

I'll see what I can do.

Does your school have the bio in focus book? if so could you please your teacher for the solutions
Wish I did buddy.

I only have physics and it's missing chapters 8 and 10 onwards sadly. Though I also have pearson physics full solutions with that same bundle.

If anyone else wants it, it can be sorted through DM's.

Are there any active HSC Biology High Achievers on BoS?

If so, we could initiate a project where current/past Biology students come together and provide their own, high-quality answers to the multiple sections that OP is requesting.

This might be the best alternative to accessing the official Biology in Focus answers (which seems nearly impossible).

No need, search the answers up online.

Yes, that is common sense, but we are searching for the specific answers linked to the workbook.

Like the convenience of having answers in the back of maths textbooks for self marking / assurance... Wouldn't be too fun having to ask your teacher for marking every time...
