Why did you choose to study your particular degree, and why did you choose to study that degree at the uni you are going to.

I chose B Arts and Sciences because its a new degree that matched exactly what i was looking for, a chance to study a vast ammount of courses. With still room to major in either science or arts. (at the times i was tossing up between something in computers or psychology and arts)

I chose environmental management and tourism cause I really want to get into the eco-tourism industry. I could have gone to TAFE and got an advanced diploma, but I want to focus more upon the design elements of ecotourism lodges, which university caters for and TAFE doesn't. Its a shame TAFE doesn't cater for the designing cause I really enjoyed TAFE during yrs 11 and 12. But I chose UWS cause its the only uni in Sydney that has any sort of ecotourism degree. It might not be the closest uni for me, but I don't mind travelling all the way to Richmond to do something that I love. Also, the degree is very flexible, and allows me to specialise in whatever area I want to.

No - I'm no tree hugging hippe. But I want to design eco-lodges (those environmentally friendly accommodation places).

lol. I was initially interested in being a tour guide - until we had a camp and then I discovered how hard that it was to be a tour guide. I also did a design subject last semester and it was really interesting.

I chose law/communications because while one part of me loves design etc, another part of me is kinda.. thirsty for knowledge, debate, thinking...

I was also able to get some paid work experience at a medium sized law firm, so that kinda sealed the deal.

and yet again, the USYD snobbery comes out.
That wasnt snobbery damnit. It was the fact that i did not realise it was renouned for anything. Like ive never heard anything about the uni. Club Mac is renouned for Psych, UWgong is renouned for its engineering and IT degrees. So you cant say that its snobbery, its just i never hear about studies or breakthroughs or anything coming from NEWC

"Renowned" is the word you're looking for. Anyway, Newcastle is considered to have the most pioneering Faculty of Health in the coutry (a repution won primarily on the merits of its medical program).

I'm studying Medicine and Surgery at the University of Western Australia. I chose my course because I want to be a doctor (duh) but I chose my profession on the basis of my desire to "help people" in a way that no other could, whilst enriching my love of the sciences. I'm particularly fascinated by the form and function of animal life, and what better application of such an education than healing?

Unlike many of the medical students around, I didn't really choose my university so much as my university chose me. However, had I the choice I think that WA would still be the right one because it gives me an understanding of fundamental science (particularly anatomy and physiology) that the PBL schools really can't. Alvin and Wilson are going to come in here and decry my claim (in the process leaning heavily on the fact that they've got a year of medicine over me) but I still believe that I am better placed in a didactic school than a PBL school.

That's fair enough. Most people are barely aware that there's even a university in Newcastle at all - I cerainly wasn't until I became interested in Medicine.

lol thats exactly what i meant when i said it was one of those low profile country universities. But obviously if it has a reputation amoungst the medical community thats pretty good.

Newcastle can hardly be classed as a country university, given that Newcastle is Australia's largest non-capital CITY and the 7th largest CITY over all.
