Will you get scaled down for doing music? (1 Viewer)

I'm doing music course 1, but i actually wanted to do course 2. I think i was the only one in school that chose 2, so it was not formed. Right now, i'm ok with practical, since i take lessons outside of school (7th grade piano). The practical is worth 70% in the hsc and the written work is worth 30%. I'm having trouble writing a 2 page essay based on 30 seconds of music. Is this course worth less than course 2? And should i drop it next year, or leave it as a back up?

Music 1 is more focused on contemporary music, Music 2 is for serious music, more classically based. There's a lot more theory involved, but music essays are barely essays, particularly, I would imagine, for Music 1. Music 2 scales better, but it would be marginal. Anyone who uses scaling as an excuse for a low uai is kidding themselves.

if you're doing 7th grade piano and are doing music 1 -- you'll kill it. seriously you are competing with people who can't read.

but only drop music if you are doing better in everything else. cayte is right, scaling as an excuse for poor uai is talking out of their arse. besides, you don't have a choice, you can't move up a course, cos it isn't run, so only drop if you are doing better in everything else. if a 2 page essay is what is worrying you, i suggest you ask your teacher for help, cos you don't need held with piano, that will be fantastic. you really should be doing music 2, but even with that you have to write essays so it isn't something you can really get away from...

um i always heard that music scaled you up very well! oh well i've just given up on all this scaling stuff

mmmhm you would think it scaled very well. i can imagine it would be considerably harder than many subjects... with all the extra hours devoted to it.. plus its not just the mind that is tested, also your ability to perform in front of others.

wo.. i just went to that site lazarus posted. it appears that music 2 scales 8+ while music one scales at -2.6

but that was in 2003.. so yeah..

hey anyone that really excelled in latvian continuers had a great advantage.

Music 2 may get scaled a lot higher than music one.. but music 1 gets scaled a lot higher than other subjects becuase its a high demand course

so i was told....

shouldnt this go in the music forum?

mysic 1 is CAPPED and doesn't music 2 scale u down anywayz??? Really, i think music 2 is a bit of a rip of coz u have to work pretty hard for minimal scaling...
