Windows 7 Upgrade (1 Viewer)

Hey I Recently saw that you can buy a windows 7 upgrade for $50 from microsoft if you are a student. I currently run a chinese version of windows XP, I was wondering if the upgrade will work?

Your computer would have to be up to spec. Is yours? Research this first.

The "upgrade" isn't an upgrade on XP, it's an entirely new operating system, so you'd get a new installation disk and everything.

I don't know much about Windows 7 specs, but I assume is more memory intensive than XP, yet a little less that Vista?

Indeed you are correct they do ask alot lower specs than Vista and it's a complete new change in the OS. Imo windows 7 > all version of windows

I am pretty sure my comp is up to spec, it runs with a run i7 processor.
So i just go get the disk from miscrosoft and I can upgrade to windows 7 regardless of what version of windows I have?

Yeah, you'll have to do a clean installation. If you've got 2 hard drives (or 1 with separate partitions), you could leave your XP partition as it is if you wanted (dual boot).

Not sure if professional comes with language packs, u might need ultimate for that, though don't quote me on that one.

Make sure you download 64bit (x64)

I am not sure if you can run it other languages however so ensure you look into this.

oh and pay the extra and buy the disk otherwise i hear it is a pain to do a clean installation, or you can save yourself some money if you know someone else with windows 7 upgrade disks of any kind, and delete one file pick professional and use your key

if you download it off its not cheating it is not an ISO so it is really really hard from what i have hard to do a clean install.

yea... the last 2 activators i used for windows ultimate completely fucked it up to the point that it wouldnt start up at all.

at least legit im only paying about 1/7th of the price.
