i was wondering, it says it requires 512 mb for windows to hibernate

is this required each time? and does it rewrite over the last hibernation file or whatever it is? coz if u made a habit of it u'd go thru ur drivespace in no time

is there ne way of deleting the 512mb that gets used, after u've logged back on?

Hibernation is essentially copying the entire contents of you RAM to your hard disk. That way the RAM contents are saved, and are restored when you turn your computer back on.

This means you need free disk space equal to the amount of RAM you have. The "RAM image" is saved to a hidden file called hibernate.sys in C:\. This file is overwritten each time you hibernate, and can be safely deleted when running Windows.

Hibernation completely shuts your computer off, and restores it to the way you left it when you turn it back on. As I explained in my first post, it does this by saving the contents your entire RAM onto your hard disk when you turn your computer off (hence taking disk space), and restoring it back to RAM when you turn the computer back on.

Sleep still uses a powered computer, the hibernation actually allows for you to turn the computer off.
