I was thinkign about getting on of those Eeepc's and was wondering what I need to get the net going on it and how much it will cost?

eeepc has a PCI Express slot rather than PCMCIA. To my knowledge no-one does a PCI Express wireless modem.
Best bet is a USB wireless modem.
We use "3" modems at work and they're rather good. 2GB data per month, $29 per month.
Only good for light web viewing and emails though.
