wireless networking problem (2 Viewers)

hi guys (and girls)
i just bought and installed a wireless access point and a pcmcia card onto my laptop (both netcomm 802.11g)

ummm the wireless works and detects each other...im actually posting this using the laptop wirelessly...

but when i tried to use mac adress filtering...it kinda disconnected this laptop from the access point..

i only listed this laptop's mac address tho...am i suppose to list all computers etc onto the list??


oh and is there a quicker way to finding each computer's mac address without fricken going to each pc and checking? i tried using winipcfg and ipconfig but didnt really work...im running winxp btw...

The actual Web Interface for your router should display the mac address's.

You should add the mac address of *the PCMCIA card*, not the computer.

ie. i doubleclicked the connection, went to support tab...then checked there..

Are you sure you used the MAC (physical) address?

like after i do it...i cant connect to jack no more...

so i just reset to factory settings via wired pc...

What model is your router and wireless card?

From the manual of the router, it looks like there is a page that lists the wireless devices currently connected to the access point, which should save you running around and doing typos.

All I can suggest is that you upgrade the firmware, and to use the built-in MAC address listing instead of typing it in manually.

Yep my bad, should've mentioned it

But if you've followed all the instructions in the manual for upgrading the firmware, you should be fine.

Sure is - i killed a mobo by updating it with the wrong bios

Can't seem to find this mentioned in your manual......? Firmwares usually don't update themselves......

The mac address of your wireless card should be on the wireless card itself, unless you have a Centrino.

i thought thats how you find the mac address?
