Can someone explain this 2012 hsc question to me? The answer provided is D, yet it makes no logical sense. The question clearly outlines a step-down transformer ((20V to 2V)) yet in D; they show a step-up transformer. As far as my knowledge of physics goes, the ratio of turns should be identical to the ratio of primary to secondary voltage...

I'm not even sure anymore..physics is messing with my brain =[

Lol I guess the transformer could be reversed?

D is the only one which shows a 10:1 ratio

Yeah it's D cause that's the only one that has the ratio of 10:1

The question didn't state which is primary and which is secondary but I guess you just have to assume

A transformer does not have a single direction. You can easily reverse their orientation. Its just a bunch of wires and a uniform core that's all.
