I'm doing maths and was just wondering,
if i drop down to general maths and score above 90,
would it scale me up?
Also which subject scales you more up?

i dropped to general and got 95 HSC mark and a uai of well above 90. I would not have achieved such a good UAI if i was in 2U Maths

Wrong. The scaling changes significantly above 90.

You're an idiot.

General math will NOT scale you down if you achieve a mark above 85.

scaling does not affect any subject if u do really well... but generally speaking, general maths scales relatively bad :S

To be kinda blunt, almost all subjects scale down unless you are at the very top end of the cohort. Only a few subjects (due to the strength of the candidature attempting the course) actually 'scale up' from the median mark, so to speak. If you manage to get a 90+ HSC mark, then scaling will not have as much of an effect than if you achieved a HSC mark of 80 or something like that (kinda inaccurate as aligned HSC marks play no role in scaling whatsoever, but the raw exam mark scaling will be similar regardless).

Only if you do shit. I mean really shit. :apig:

A friend of mine got marks in the 80s in 3 subjects, 90 in another and 71 for general math - Her UAI was 90.2

i assume those 4 (band 5+) results are all from well scaled subjects.

Nope, IPT & Bio was in there. They aren't high scaling.

Biology is a good subject but its considered to be easier than the other science subjects. Do well in bio and it wont affect your uai, but do crap and it will. :)

I have proof for that too. lol.

Why do people care about scaling so much? You choose subjects to your strengths, not because you think it'll scale well. Then just do your best, do well enough and scaling will barely affect you anyway. It just seems a waste of time when so many people ask the same questions about the same useless topic.

No, but they're all essentially equal once every subject has been scaled.

I think thats what you must have meant.
