I got an early entry offer today from Western Sydney for Nursing (Advanced). I was wondering if nursing is a good course at wsu and any advice on what to expect? Thank you!

I got into psychology(honours). Nursing is a good course, in terms of job prospects since the university is very practical and community driven. You can expect many opportunities and great experiences to come as from what I heard, being a mediocre student, my early entry was surprising.

If you get accepted, do you have to confirm straight away or are you able to wait till we get our ATAR and then choose. Btw i was looking at Psychology but am unsure about it, as i have heard you have to do a masters if you want to actually do psychology, which is apparently very competitive.

By 'confirming' your offer (accepting), you can hold onto it, but you can let go of it later if you want - does that make sense?

If you want to become a psychologist, there is a structure of education you must follow, which is outlined here https://www.psychology.org.au/Train...psychology/studying-psychology/Study-pathways - it does not necessarily require a masters degree (only required if you want to become a clinical psychologist or otherwise (a bit like a specialist) - general psychology doesn't require masters).

However, all types of psychology require you to complete an honours year (4th year), which can be quite competitive. If you can get into a 4 year psychology program with embedded honours (like the WSU program - BPsych(Hons)), you should be on track to completing the honours portion provided you meet the criteria, which might be a certain mark from your first 3 years of study.

Some students prefer to do a 3 year program e.g. BArts(Psych) or BSci(Psych) or BPsychSci with the intent of doing a 4th year honours in psychology. You would face more competition in terms of getting into honours in this program as honours (thus becoming a psych) is not guaranteed.

If you know you definitely want to be a psychologist, then you should go for whichever uni gives you an offer into an honours program, rather than going to a different uni where you'd have to really fight for your spot in psych honours.
