can you still do advanced at the start of year 12 even if you havent covered the preliminary work? or are they independent?

AFAIK, I don't think you can go up.

It's like 2unit people, next eyar they wouldn't be able to 3 unit as they've missed out on extension work last year.

You can go down (from 3 unit to 2unit) but I dont think you can go up.

Yeah tommykins is right, you need to satisfy the number of Prelim hours required.

i don't see why you couldn't....you learn new topics in year 12 anyway...the texts are harder and the standard of work expected of you is higher, but its worth it imo.
