Hey all. I'm having a bit of difficulty on finalizing my decisions for my Years 11 and 12 subjects. I'm currently passionate about picking the following subjects:
English Advanced, Maths Advanced, Maths Extension 1, Physics, Chemistry, Geography, and Information Processes and Technology. My problem is, I'm unsure whether I'll end up having major difficulties with the workload down the track. I'm one of the top students in my year and work hard fairly consistently, but I still don't know whether I should change a couple of my choices.

Thanks!

As mentioned above, you should give your subejcts a try in year 11. Depending on how that goes, you may end up needing to drop a subject because of the workload. If this were to occur, I would advise you to keep Information Process and Technology because since you’re one of the top students in your year, you are most likely will not struggle with IPT and will receive great marks, provided you study regularly.

Good luck!

Hi!
I did 4 of your subjects (English Advanced, Maths Advanced, Maths Extension 1, IPT) throughout year 11 (the rest was legal studies, business studies and SOR II). I can definitely say that while the workload is not the easiest, it's certainly manageable. You mentioned you're a top student so that itself would require great skills always put into practice like time management and organisational skills. Given you keep this up throughout year 11 and year 12, then you should be good. Remember it's always important to stay on top of your work, otherwise, it'll just keep piling up and it becomes really hard to manage.

Good luck!

My eldest did Eng Adv, Math Ex 1 & 2, Bio, Chem, Phys & Ec and managed fine, with a reasonable amount of free time (she still attended lots of parties every month). You just have to be organised and be ‘on task’ when doing assignments or studying.
