Finding Nemo
The Triplets of Belleville (French)

Finding Nemo is a sure bet, but Triplets of Belleville was good too

You get the picture right? I want sean penn to win Best Actor. NOT! i OBVIOUSLY want Johnny to win it. I kno that its ment to be a comp for that particular film, and though im not disputing Johnny's sepreme performance in Pirates, i want him to win in respect of all his other films. I read a 1980's Bio on him in the hols (4 a laugh, which i got) and in it he says how much he wanted to become a serious actor (This WAS after Nightmare on Elm Street). And now he has and i want him to win so he can say,
"Yeah, thats right, i once wanted to be a sereious actor...And Yay 4 me, now everyone thinks i am!!"
I LOVE AND RESPECT YOU JOHNNY!!

Anyway Ken Watanabe is a pretty decent bet for Best Supporting Actor... Tim Robbins.. meh, he should've won years ago for Shawshank, Watanabe's performance was better imo
I agree, Watanabe held quite a performance for supporting actor.

I must say Johnny Depp's performance in Pirates was quite unbelievably good. IMO he pretty much carries the film, as the story was fairly bland, and Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley's characters/performances were plain boring. Yet somehow Johnny managed to make it a pretty enjoyable experience for me. You're dreaming if you think the Academy's gonna give him an Oscar for a fun adventure movie like Pirates though

I have to agree with you. If ROTK doesn't win best pic, I'll go up there & beat up the judges myself.
I am not certain whether I want PJ to win or not. It is a tie between PJ & Peter Weir.

True, perhaps the Golden Globes will always inaugurate such films though, since the Hollywood Foreign Press are really just such a blunt collection of unworthy idiots who are really after some opportunities to socialise with celebrities, rather than concentrate on the intricate process of film appreciation and awardations. But then again, paradoxically the GGs often still end up making better choices than the Oscars.

I agree, Peter Weir is fantastic. I'm hooked onto many of his films, even early birds such as Witness (1985). Shame I haven't seen Master and Commander yet though, since I'm also a Russell fan.

Don't you worry, it'll win. It's definitely not the best though, just really, really overrated.
If any movie challenges its chances, it's Lost in Translation, if anything the judges would only be showing clarity of mind and sanctity of conscience in selecting the best movie ahead of the movie that everyone likes

ROTK has to get best picture, if they gave it to Chicago they should give it to anything. I don't really care much about the other awards, I haven't seen that many of the nominated movies.
