How did you manage to improve so much in english!? I got 89 in the sc and I'm doing Standard English.
It took alot of work! I wish i did get a band 6 in hsc english but oh well!! I mainly just made awesome essays and used them for trials and hsc. it succeeded. I got 91 in the exam but my assessment mark pulled me down.

91 is excellent! What was your internal mark?

I found that my friends who were good in SC (all band 6) became a bit lazy and did not go so well in the HSC.

For me, my bands corresponded exactly (2 band 6's, the rest band 5) except in those times they were all low band 5's (80-85), but this time they were high band 5's (89s & one 88 >_>); but my band 6 maths fell (96 -> 92). IPT still went well.

so SC marks dont mean nything at ALL/??
Only if you leave school, want to change schools, or need something to show your marks relative to the state (such as for a job, scholarship, coop, etc..). Of course there's no written rule which says you need SC marks for those things, it just helps the other party understand your academic position better.

umm my raw mark at school was 77%. My HSC results for Advanced English:

Exam Mark: 91%
Assessment Mark: 85%

= HSC Mark: 88%

Therefore my school English mark got moderated +8%. English was one of my worse subjects and in the end I did very well in exam.

My hsc marks were heaps better than my sc marks......I was a bludger back then and didn't even have a proper attempt at the exams. From memory, in SC I got:
one band 5
three band 4's
one band 3

In HSC I got -
four band 6's
one band 5

The funny thing is that in sc, my highest mark was english (low band 5) and in hsc my lowest mark was english (still band 5...though a high band 5).......so studying for english sure didn't pay off :(

Anywya, it's a good thing I decided to start studying when I got to year 12! :D

Ha! I didn't do that great in the SC but I aced the HSC - I didn't pick up a book before year twelve though, so that's explainable.

SC: English (83), Maths (85), History (87), Science (89), Geography (91)

HSC: English (91), Maths (93), Business Studies (94), Ancient History (95), Economics (97), History Extension (49/50), English Extension (44/50)

SC marks do not at all reflect the mark that you will recieve for your HSC. You can improve alot from year 10 to year 12.

I actually screwed up year 11 - I was ranked like 100+ in maths and english and very crappy in other subjects (no joke). I kinda stuffed up my first term assessments in year 12, but then pulled my socks up and then in the end did alright. There is always room for improvement for those in yr 12 in 2006.
