Do you think lack of sleep itself causes a person to become less intelligent over time? Please judge it on the basis of personal experience or what you have observed in others.

I'm writing an assignment right now with a serious lack of sleep and it's rubbish compared to my first 2 in the same course

but that doesn't prove anything does it? :D

oh no, now i don't know.. i put 'yes' but then i realised that my father has lost a lot of sleep and he's one of the most intelligent i know.

depends on the person, but sleep helps keep people calm, and hence become more intelligent and less moody. thus giving their brains less strain, yahoo!

Scientifically proven to be more stupid when sleep deprived.

lack of sleep = decrease in concentration

but the amount of sleep time varies depending on people really. If I sleep more than 9 hours, I get more tired. My ideal amount of sleep time is 6-7.

It doesn't. I can perfectly remember things that were overnight. But my concentration in class decreases to the point my eyelids actually droop and fall into a micro sleep :guitar:

If it does... god i'm in trouble...
haha same.

apparently it can lower your iq by ten points, my sister went to a sleep specialist and that's what he said. i think constant constant lack of sleep can decrease your intelligence but just a few sleepless nights will just leave you feeling crappy and lose concentration.

Well for me i hardly get 9 hours sleep a day which i really need.
I say on a monthly basis i would only consider approximately 6 days of the month to be a "good nights sleep" .

I've been using a sleep diary for 2 months now and still continuing.
*sigh* and now it's Summer and it's so hard to sleep at night.. grrrr

more 6-8 hours sleep nights....

I am pretty sure i need 10 hours personally and by not being able to get it i have noticed that my concentration isn't too good on those "days" also i think i have noticed a change in my reaction time...

I need ten hours. But I hate mornings, so just skip them all together by sleeping in :D.

Hahaha yeah. I found that the first two periods were always a major write-off for me. I just don't function that early.
Evenings and nights I'm buzzing :D
I have to start getting up at 8am though to watch ABC news as the UTS first-year teacher for comm suggested it to me. Ahh wells, goodbye lie ins!

Haha Venus :( poor Venus ..world number 6 slightly "upstaged" by the world number 56

Any other favorite players ? Perhaps Marat Safin? Richard Gasquet? Jo-Wilfred Tsonga ?
