because sometimes people need guidance or support from someone that will talk back, i have nothing against christians/catholics or whoever you decide you are. everyone has an opinion/belief and i think everyone needs to respect that. based on events in my life i believe that god does not exist, but that doesn't mean he doesn't, i also believe you should be judged by who you are. not what you believe. true some people find support from god and i respect that. but in my case (and alot of people i know) its never happened.
Your beliefs form a large part of who you are. They are formed by your experiences, your education and your genetics. Your beliefs are you.

Yeah. If people want to believe in it, you can't really stop them.

But still, in this day and age - believing in fairy tales is a little silly for grown people.

Christians laugh at the Aboriginal dreamtime stories, and Monks laugh at Catholics...

Everyone has their own argument, and each religion was created to try and give us a nice, neat answer to fel better about the virtual brick wall we hit when it comes to pondering the questions of life and all that jazz.

lol last night ANU's Priest was telling us that "Two monks together cannot achieve balance", then he produced this figurine of two monks with arms around eachother and a hole between them. Then he was like "But, with wine they can!" and he placed a wine bottle's neck inside the hole and mysteriously the figurine could stand and the wine bottle stood suspended, horizontal off the ground!
It was a miracle and we were transfixed with amazement!

he then proceeded to intoxicate us

If I have been baptised, had First Holy Communion and been Confirmed does that make me a Catholic even if in my mind I do not believe to the full extent of what the Catholic religion preaches?

I guess we're not an organisation big on dissent. We're authoritarian and that's how the folks have liked it for 2000 years.

If you have outstanding issues, you should undertake genuine efforts to seek to resolve them. Bring them up with your Priest, research, debate, confess your doubts and pray for guidance. If none is forthcoming, then you have to make a decision about whether it's more honest to break from the Church and live with the pigs for a while before returning to the home of your father

I don't like the Priest at the local chuch where I live and they don't run any youth groups so I'm kinda limited to who I can speak with.

My cousin who is a stong Catholic sometimes helps me with my problems/situations with his Catholic guidance and most of the time the outcome was positive.

My mum is a strict Catholic, however my dad is a little lax about it all so I think I get it from him.

Well just keep the candle burning, at any rate. The Church dont just choose the doctrine randomly - it is subject to reason sourced through the Bible. Often it is helpful to explore their reasoning on certain matters, rather than rely on a secular straw man of the core beliefs.

There's also nothing stopping you from abandoning your Parish for another

What, like yours?

My school runs some Catholic groups after school and during school, but the ones during school interfere with classes and the ones after school I'm just... meh. Lol

God's existence is superfluous, if he does exist we'll never meet him. So, while it makes for interesting discussion, I wouldn't get too carried away.

However, I think theism is, quite frankly, a load of horseshit. It's nothing but arrogance to presume some huge trans-cosmic being would be anything but completely indifferent to tiny chaotic fleeting beings like us.
Which is why I find theists extremely annoying. Faith is a terrible thing. Don't glorify it. It's responsible for every atrocity committed by man. When I say this, I don't just mean religious faith, but all types of faith. Putting belief in something that boasts no valid reason to be invested with belief is a huge mistake.

There's a lot more substance in your relationship with other humans than with the imaginary friend who never answers your prayers.
