I think this was a few month ago, when Kevin Rudd announced the one off payment to different sectors of the Australian community, and I believe I heard uni students gets $900 as part of the deal, but how can you get it?

If you were entitled to it you would have received it already.

19-21 year old students get the $900.

I got mine. :)
no its not an age thing and its not just whether your at uni.

You get it
1) if you are on youth allowance, or some form of government benefit
or
2) if you were worked AND paid tax (like actually paid something and didn't get everything back)

and if you qualify under both those criteria you get double.

Stupid whore at the front counter at the local centrelink asked if i wanted tax taken from my rent assist.

I loled so hard and explained to her that 6.50 a fortnight will never be taxed.

Also eligible to get it if your parents receive Family Tax Benefit A and your 19/20 and a student of course. When you get it depends on when your parents receive their payments (e.g. fortnightly or end of financial year). I fall under this, my parents dont get the payment until after they do their tax so I have to wait - this was confirmed by Centrelink.
