hey guys this is a maths challenge

it has been said maths/engineering majors can solve it in under 3 mins, analytical thinkers can solve it in 6 hours and english brains can never solve it.

1, 2 ,6, 42, 1806 _ _ _ _ what are the next four numbers?

good luck

3 263 442, i get the pattern but the numbers get too big for the calculator, even with scientific notation!
1 065 005 695 000
113 423 713 100 000 000 000 000 000
correcto mundo?

Yeah, my pattern was
1, 2, 6, 42, 1806, 3 263 442, 1.065005695x10^13, 1.134237131x10^26, 1.286493868x10^52 ^^

I guess i'm a maths/engineering major :D

How did you figure?
Roll over for the pattern i found
1 + 1^2 = 2
2 + 2^2 = 6
6 + 6^2 = 42
42 + 42^2 = 1806
1806 + 1806^2 = 3 263 442
3 263 442 + 3 263 442^2 = 1.065005695x10^13
1.065005695x10^13 + ( 1.065005695x10^13 )^2 = 1.134237131x10^26
1.134237131x10^26 + ( 1.134237131x10^26 )^2 = 1.286493868x10^52

I used a calculator for the last few numbers XD

yeh i got it pretty quick

to aquawhite: 2/1 = 2 ; 6/2 = 3 ; 42/6 = 7
notice how result is always 1 more than the number denominator....so for the next few numbers you just multiply the number and the number one more than it e.g. 1806.1807 = 3263442

I was considering something similar to this but my brain is no longer functioning this late into the night unless I've already started doing something.

Hell yes. I don't work well into the night. I prefer the late afternoon and during the school time. That's why staying home is ideal for me... it's the best time for me around the 1pm time and onwards up until 8pm for study time... I wish I could go that long rofl...

I got it in a minute. I don't want to do Engineering or Maths in Uni though. I have a predominantly English oriented mind.
