What is host access? And what can you do on it?

Just curious.
Ummmmm heaps of stuff.
Promo planning is done through it. Plus stuff like production planners for meat/bakery.
Tis all I use it for but I'm sure there's heaps of other stuff.

I got my paycheck today and noticed that they only paid me 2.25 normal rate for Australia Day. Should this be 2.5 the normal rate?

I'm a part timer and our boss will NEVER let anyone get paid overtime - He says he is way too poor.

Funny thing is though before be came we were paid OT and didn't have so many cancelled shifts and reduced hours. We have no-one in the top office after 3 o'clock. But that's because he is cheap. He wants a bonus
Not just the bonus. I know a lot of AMs have been told (and passed onto their SMs) that if they can't meet their wage figure, then they should get their company car detailed, hand the keys in and find a job elsewhere.

Unfortunately the whole wage/cost cutting stuff is being passed to the execs from the board. All comes down to return to shareholders.

I know my way around host access-ish. Only just started learning myself! But next time we're on skype go go with questions and I'll answer those which I can :p

Do any of you part-timers or full-timers get paid OT? Or do you have to take time off in lieu?
I get paid a couple of hours OT here & there, when I sign on and off dodgy etc lol. That said I COULD be getting a whole lot more OT.... like 10+ hours a week >_> But I'd rather grin and bear it with these damn hours.

I start 5 tomorrow... but I'm not manager tomorrow so at 2 pm I bugger off! :D

Eh, I don't mind it that much. The last two weeks have been a bit crazy though. It'll be nice when we can put the new roster in.

Pretty much 9:30 - 18:30 daily, except for one open and one close, either side of my four days off. It means 10 days straight, but that's okay, coz I have all my days off in a row.

Read my above post...
I did. This was my initial reaction before i read it.

Yes that is what the SSM was saying. Our store needed like ten new staff members, interviewed shitloads, and then at the last minute was only allowed to hire 2.

Oh and babikakez you're right, we won't have a homeshop, it all comes in from Lonnie, about 60 minutes away. However i don't envisage a huge take-up rate, what with no in-store advertising whatsoever here.

SSO said she was 95% sure there would be hours coming up in Store Services, yay. Hopefullz that it's systems/tickets and not cash cos i suck at maths and mathematical problem-solving.

Isn't launceston at least 2 hours away from Hobart?

I might see if Mum will give Homeshop a try, just to see what it's like.

Ridiculous!

A policy that came out a few months ago is only just being enforced in our store, and it really sucks. Basically our wastebin is only opened 3 times a day, for 5 minutes. The Duty Manager unlocks it, stands there and looks at everything you put in there. So if you miss out on the bin being open, tough.

Yes, but that's not particularly relevant as I don't live in Hobart.
Sorry, I thought you did. My mistake.

I think we have something similar but our manager waits until all departments have come to put their rubbish in (within reason)

The Duty Manager puts a call over the pager "Attention all staff the waste bin is now open and will remain open for the next 5 minutes"

Stupid rule if you ask me. I can seriously see it being relaxed in a few weeks, the DM's will soon get sick of it. In fact I can guarantee the first person to get sick of it will be the SM.

On another note all of the Health and Safety Committee got trained on how to use the Fire Extinguishers today. A guy from Fire Security came down and basically walked us through how to use one, and then he was going to light a fire in the back yard but then it started raining and we couldn't do it inside so that was a bummer :p

Australia has had that policy since i started working at Woolies. I don't see the problem with it. At my store it's sort of necessary because if the bin door is opened without the duty managers keys it sets of the alarms.

When I'm on Duty i usually just give someone from the Deli the keys and they do it.
