Fuck you Ashleey I'm seriously considering one now.
First android in aust and it's Telstra exclusive for 3 months I'll have a bit of a play.

A bit sick of Apple's fruitopia. I'm half expecting Steve jobs to publicly humiliate every ipad owner in a year with a line like 'so how's your second iPhone?'.

Dickhead.

Android is based on linux... So, according to you, it should also be able to do anything a desktop can, given the right software.
Android is based on the Linux KERNEL, not the Linux userspace + GNU. It uses Google's own version of Java instead for that (a version of Java which is incompatible with the Java standard, too). You don't know what you're talking about.

It would require so many modifications to get Android running like a Debian distribution that the very notion is entirely laughable.

And speaking of the N900, it's a fucking amazing piece of technology in action. I have absolutely no regrets about purchasing it.

Actually the appearance of the Nexus One is not that appealing to girls... =\
Not that I want a pink phone, but this one is just not one of HTC's nicer looking phones.

Review thread.
My post is completely in context. I'm telling people I considered the Nexus and settled on the N900 instead. I want to let people know that I think the N900 is a superior product, so they at least know what their options are.

Iphone sucks balls because you can't view or edit office and pdf documents. Hopefully Google Nexus lets you do this.

I could code a programme for the iPhone to view PDF and Microsoft formats pretty easily. I won't though, because a bunch of people have already done so, as Blastus pointed out.

No, I meant make one for the N900 silly.

further legit criticisms:
-amoled screen is a chore/impossible in bright light
-mentioned the speaker before but trying to use loudspeaker is a PROPER joke, its barely any louder

ran the battery 28 hours off charge yesterday and it finished off on 24% which is a great effort considering i had 3g, wifi and gps on the whole time and i was playing music a good 4-5 hrs.

Oh and the N900 has the best speakers any phone will ever have. They're stereo instead of mono for a start, and they are probably the least tiny speakers of their size (or in such a device) I've heard.

I'd start a thread about the N900 but I CBF.
