B Commerce (Management) would be one way to go then. Everyones different really, and it would depend on what you find interesting. If you do a B Commerce, you don't have to settle on a major straight away anyway. So you have time to work out what you like.

I'm not sure for UNSW, however, usually its just: You have a certain path of subjects you need to follow, in order to complete a major. So you'd primarily do marketing subjects for a marketing major etc. Your minor is determined by which other subjects you undertake (also usually a path to follow, but shorter).

I'm B Creative Arts (Performance - Production)/B Commerce. So essentially, Technical Theatre Production and Commerce.

As for Maths degrees, I'm not sure. I don't have any involvement with them. However, someone here should be able to help you out. As for Engineering and Commerce, it would depend on what form of engineering you undertake as to how it relates to commerce. Again, someone else is probably better to help you with that.

yeah thats kinda what i wanna do, work my way up, but what wud be the best kind of course for that? like i need more specifics, cause i am really the only one of my family going to uni, and i have no idea...
guiders would be very helpful.
i always had a feeling managing a casino or hotel would be sick. haha
I wouldn't consider hotel management unless you're something special. First of all, you'll be stuck doing shitty hospitality jobs until an opportunity arises to move up the chain, if that does actually happen.

You either do 2 majors or a major and a minor. The difference between a major and a minor is the amount of courses you'd do for each. More for major, less for minor.

I personally think maths (or maths-related) degrees are great as they teach and develop enhanced quantitative skills for your career. Not everyone can go down such a path however so if you know your numbers pretty well, consider it.

if you're interested in doing a course that gets good pay even though you don't necessarily enjoy it you're going to hang yourself by age 30. remember, the degree in university is usually an indicator to how you wish to spend every working day of life. money does not equal happiness mate. also, do not simply do a course for the sake of its prestige... that is just stupid. do something that makes you happy, not just something to impress everyone else.

i have heard for engineering you should have a genuine passion as a high drop out rate is attributed to people who don't have the motivation for a relatively intense course. however, your maths/science background is an advantage. why not consider a broad science degree and then major in what you may become interested in the future?

not familiar with university and the intrinsic details of how the courses are managed but im sure you could simply drop one if need be.

how about a science/commerce degree? you could easily major in something you are interested in and have the bonus of a commerce degree which would benefit you in making more money for the market in which you are catering for. also a engineering/commerce degree which you suggested previously also carries benefits not dissimilar to a science/commerce degree.

just keep in mind that no matter what university course you undertake, chances are you will be considered wealthy and earning above the average australian salary (which is currently over $1000 a week). i suggest to see yourself as successful (because it is your life and it is paramount you don't feel a failure later in life) that you not put money as a priority but rather things such as family, flexibility, work environment, intensity, responsibilities, hours, etc.

You're asking things that

1) You should simply research for yourself and decide. Everything we tell you is based on our own personal convictions and obviously may not suit you

2) You should learn with experience.

Just hold off on these sort of questions for a bit longer. And just enjoy being fucking young for the time being.

We're all gonna get older sooner or later. And life is never as simple as picking a degree and guaranteeing yourself a certain lifestyle because of it.

If you value social life / family etc. I'd stay away from investment banks. They work new recruits / interns like dogs, 9am - 11pm days are not uncommon.
