to the wise members of bos: i was wondering if you could tell me if i still could get an atar of 90, as my ranks in school have been way down.
these ranks are just guesses but don't differ by much:
- eng adv: 34/47 (40% covered)
- biology: 51/67 (45% covered)
- chemistry 51/52 :( (45% covered)
- economics 30/46 (30% covered)
- 2 unit maths: 50/97 (40% covered)
- eng ext: ?/5 (0% covered)

as there are still the trials (worth 40%) left and some other assessments, i was wondering whether i could still get decent ranks to secure an atar of 90. and my school is ranked in the top 150 i think. definitely top 200 tho.

Yes. You can still get an ATAR of 90. Unless you have zeros for everything so far.

Study hard and study smart.

EDIT: You have 97 kids in 2 unit....

I hate my school.

Thanks for the hope! don't get what u mean by the last bit tho..

@hvf26: thx for the info dude.. but its the rank that matters, u can get 70% n still come 3rd..so yh.

yh i entered predicted marks into umax...u only need one band 6 n the rest between 75-85 (for my subjects that is) to get atar 92.85

you will need to improve your ranks greatly to get 90+ ATAR, unless you go to top 15-20 school.

There's a slim chance, so work your arse off to raise your ranks and you might just get it :)

Why not aim to get into Med straight out of the HSC, but do Pharmacy instead if you don't get the marks?

This may be a better aim.

i won't be able to get into med straight away..u need at least 90 for that...and the highest i'll get is prolly 92..but i doubt i'll even get that..prolly end up getting 87/88 ish.

btw: does anyone know what the lowest mark an individual person could get in (eg. chemistry) an hsc exam if ur school is in top 200? cos i'm worried that i prolly wont be able to get my chem rank up much and will hav to depend on every1 else not getting lower than a band 4.

It doesn't matter what school you go to, you can still get a band 2. James Ruse kids (as I've been informed from other threads) can still get around about 70~ or lower for an ATAR. It's all about if you put the effort in to get the marks.

Don't depend on anyone else's marks. Just try and make sure you get the best marks. Also be thankful you don't go to a 500+ ranked school. ;)
