that wasnt an outline of the proposed spending cuts either

what are they?

they could very well be warranted.

"He is open to all ideas on private sector involvement, from transport to road maintenance" - what is wrong with that? if it was beneficial to the people of NSW, then why shouldnt he be atleast open to the idea?
When has the public benefited in Australia from something being privatized?

CommonwealthBank? No

Telstra? No

Sydney Airport? No

and the list goes on...

privatisation of telstra has increased competition in the telco industry giving us better service and more options

commonwealth bank is the most profitable bank in australia?

privatised electricity is cheaper across the board than state owned electricity

i dont know anything about sydney airport so i wont comment on it (something you should think about doing sometimes)

I think quite highly of our public transport system however friends of mine have berated me for it and basically said I'm a labor hack who won't acknowledge any of their failures. (even though I vote green) They assert that it should not take over an hour to get from Cabramatta to the city via public transport, I assert in response that there are reasons why land in Cabramatta costs spare change compared to land in the inner west or east.

Edit: All that being said I always drive to Westmead and take the express train if I'm going into the city which takes me less than half an hour so I can't say my situation is identical to them.
Yeah, our transport is excellent, people are just impatient children and think the government should develop teleportation technology because travelling more than 50km through heavily urbanised areas should be instantaneous. I live further west than Cabramatta and it takes me over an hour to get to Central station from my house. I think that's pretty fantastic considering the alternatives.

Public transport is slow, dirty and quite often unsafe. Not to mention some suburbs don't have transport, whiel other suburbs which were going to get train lines have now had them cancelled by the Liberals.
It is not slow at all you dolt. What would you consider fast and how do propose this could be implemented? Are you seriously blaming the state government for your trains being unclean and unsafe??? How in any manor of anything is it their fault at all?

Which suburbs and what was their reasoning? Also don't give me the god damn Socialist Alliance as a source because they do not understand anything not even socialism.

Didn't realize it was from their site, just searched in Google News. However, after looking at their site, they seem pretty decent actually. I.e.

While NSW Labor deserves to get the boot, the Coalition is no alternative. It would slash jobs and services, privatise public assets, and attack the environment even more ferociously than Labor has.

NSW is at a critical turning point. We need a radically different plan to the business-as-usual approach of the major parties. We need a plan for NSW that:

* reverses the privatisations and embraces public ownership and community control of services;
* rescues our environment with a transition to 100% renewable energy and green jobs, and protects natural biodiversity;
* invests in improving and rapidly expanding public housing, health, education and transport;
* is inclusive of and supports women, Aboriginal people, Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans and Intersex (LGBTI) people, people with disabilities, refugees, the Muslim community and all those who are scapegoated or ignored; and
* empowers genuine grassroots, democratic control.

This is Socialist Alliance’s contribution to that plan.

We are running Legislative Assembly candidates in Keira, Newcastle, Marrickville and Parramatta, plus a Legislative Council ticket with 21 candidates, to raise these ideas.

These urgently needed changes cannot be achieved just through legislation in parliament. They’ll need the support of mobilised communities, unions and social justice activists if they are to bring real change.

1. Even most Liberals will admit the sale of Telstra wasn't their most glorified moment and it hasn't worked that great. Telstra had (until only a few months back) a legalized market monopoly basically.

2. Yeah, Commonwealth Bank is profitable. Too bad the Australian people don't get those profits and we are now charged a heap in fees by them. Its good for the shareholders but bad for the customers.

3. I don't know who your power bill is with, but my power bill has rises 20 to 30% on top of the equivalent previous years. Power prices are out of control. Labor should have never done their recent electrical deal (although to reverse it now nad pay billions in compensation to the electrical companies likes the Liberals and O'Farrel wants to do is even more retarded).

4. Sydney Airport is a rip off now after it was bought by Macquarie Bank. Try parking there (there is hardly any drop of places anymore) to drop someone off and you'll be slugged $20 for half an hour of parking.

Socialist Alliance campaigns for:

* Reversing the sell-off: the annulment and reversal of the sale of public assets.
* An immediate price freeze on household electricity.
* Defence of public assets: keep public assets in public hands for human needs not corporate profits.
These guys sound better than both Labor or the Greens.

They are *insane*. A fucking price freeze? Jesus christ.

Oh and I guess stopping that was a bad thing (????????)

Yes and competitive bank prices are the worst right. If you aren't satisfied, change your provider.

Take a train then dude easily fixed problems that have nothing to do with the government at all. If the worst thing about an international airport is that it has expensive parking I'm pretty sure that it's doing fairly good.

Just like to remind everyone that even though he has said he will not vote liberal over labor in any circumstances, that the greens were virtually the only party not on his list of "worst than labor" parties, he advocates greater expenditure on almost everything and seems to get most of his cues from the socialist alliance, there is to be no question as to David Barnes being left wing, he is a "moderate" or whatever.

Yes, I am a moderate. I also do not advocate greater expenditure on everything, there has to be boundary's. I am socially progressive on social issues and a moderate on issues of finance and economics. I am similar in views to you Lentern.

Bless lol.

I'll make two points, one is similar though your views may be your reasons for coming to them are very different. The other point is that I hold left wing views. You're not Seamus Lee are you?
