If you get Distinctions for all assessments in a particular unit, does it mean that you HAVE to get a D overall? I got a D in all 3 assessments for one of my units, and a raw mark of 80/100 overall. Will I get 80, or does scaling come into play?

if you have an overall 80/100 right now, you'll keep 80/100, scaling only applies to some subjects (for some exams) and you're given the scaled mark not the raw mark.

It all depends on each convener, there is no guarantee that the combination of marks given to you will equal your final mark. Having said that, they usually won't put you in a credit if you have a distinction average, or vice versa, otherwise you'd have a very good case for arguing against its issuing.

asylum is correct. Almost all unit outlines will have some clause stating 'the unit convenor has the right to alter marks'- basically this allows them to scale the marks up ...or down if they choose.

Scaling down is unlikely, I have never had it occur although i'd never really know because i've always had final exams. I would think your mark should be 80, and if not it should be >75.
