Quizzes mean nothing in First Year and almost everybody gets full marks in them, as well as assignments. The final exam is what differentiates (apologies for the pun) students and remember that it's weighted the most heavily of all of them. By all means contest if you wish but just opening your eyes to the fact that even getting close to full marks in 1st Year quizzes and assignments is by no means a guarantee that you will get a Credit or above. Further years is a whole different story.

Can you elaborate? Is it like this for all subjects or just maths?

I love your DP.

Also, I can't comment on other subjects because all I've ever done is Maths.
Haha thanks, I probably couldn't have thought of a better quote to accompany that face.

Re: Unit of Study Results

Might be worth apply for something from that Accounting subject to be remarked, or your marks to be recalculated. They dodn't usually give half marks in final results, and even more rarely give a 49 because they know people will complain :/
They allowed me, and a dozen others, to resit the Accounting exam this morning. I don't want to jinx it....but I did fix a few mistakes I made originally! :)

For maths mostly.

The weighting is very heavily towards exams, and how well you do in a course is essentially determined by how good you are at taking exams. Every other subject I have done is assessed very differently.

The reason for this is presumably because it takes a lot less effort to copy a friends maths assignment than to copy a friends philosophy essay. And quizzes contain a larger 'luck factor' than exams.
