Yes. Though I am not saying if you're on the right track. But it is good you are trying new things.
Spiral why you do dis to me :cry:

Idk I forgot how to prove congruent triangles. I just remember the thingos like SSS ASS (is it? or is it AAS)? I forgot. I don't remember anything in year 9.

Re: 2012 Year 9 &10 Mathematics Marathon

ooo how about this?
Draw a perpendicular line from A to BC, naming the line x. Name the left equal side y, and right equal side z.
sin B = x/y
y=x/sin B
sin C= x/z
z=x/sin C

Given y=z,
x/sin B = x/sin C
Cancel x's, sin C = sin B, so C=B +k180 or something if I recall, but I won't delve into that. Is that elegant enough? hopefully.

This can be done in with year 9 knowledge easily. Assuming you learnt a bit of plane geometry.

sine rule using angles B and C. omg what other methods are there?
? how can you use the sine rule to prove that the angles are equal?

like i only thought you used the rule to find a certain side or angle... damn all that r0te.

I dont understand this - many times you have to get it wrong to learn. You cant win if you dont play the game. This thread is the place to make mistakes.

Seriously don't worry about this- we won't laugh at you (well not too hard anyway :p). Trust though, any mistake you make, I would have made worse. You should see some shockers I've done, both in maths tests and even on this forum.
