What began as a small group of citizens voicing their disappointment with President Barack Obama's victory in last week's presidential election, has turned into a plea from hundreds of thousands of citizens to have their states be granted independence from the federal government.
The White House has now received secession petitions from all 50 states by citizens requesting that the administration "peacefully grant" them the opportunity to form their own sovereign government.

What are your thoughts on this? Any idea on how successful this will be?

When the next civil war occurs, it will not be regional like the last one. It will be man vs. state. In the instance of Texas, it will be the people vs. the federal government, while in places like Indiana and Kentucky (where the state governments walk hand-in-hand with the feds and will probably back them) it will be the people vs. the state and feds. The general consensus of the US military is that they would not be reliable to the federal government for domestic war. There are too many in active and reserve duty now talking about this possibility. That is why the Federal government has and is training foreign forces for urban combat. They will need the help. They will lose.

We gonna have slave states again.
You do realise that the civil war wasn't over slavery right. Also slaves existed in both the north and the south at the time.

texas has 70k alone
I think it's over 100k now. Only 25k is needed though to warrant a response from Washington

the civil war was about preserving the union, but to claim that it wasn't over slavery considering the abolitionist policy of the republicans, and the acquiescence of northern democrats to the republican agenda, to claim that it wasn't 'over slavery' is fucking retarded. just like claiming there's going to be another civil war, or the fact that foreign soldiers are being given "urban combat training" is to fight in coming american civil war.
