I understand that it is inefficient and where many people go to retire. The liberals will hopefully remove many of the public servants and cut down the APS.

The liberals will do what John Howard did and leave a larger public service than there is now.

Tony Abbott does not have a calm, methodical and measured style of leadership. Tony Abbott lacks duty of service, has utter contempt for due process, all talk no action, not down to Earth, supports Howard's failed Northern Territory Intervention, has no clear purpose, a man of relentless negaitvity, has an anti business streak (as manifested by his company tax increase to pay for his costly, unsustainable and flawed matter of principle paid parental leave scheme), lost touch with political reality and is clearly untrustworthy. Tony Abbott is Australia's most incompetent Prime Minister in Australian history.

McGowan in, possibly Palmer in- Coalition lose two seats in the 2013 federal election.
The contest for the Queensland seat of Fairfax has taken a dramatic turn as mining magnate Clive Palmer and his LNP rival Ted O' Brien in a tight finish. Mr Palmer finished Wednesday ahead of Mr O' Brien by a margin of just three votes with 1,371 still to be counted. If the count is finalised with a margin of less than 100 votes, the Australian Electoral Commission must undertake an automatic recount. In the other undecided seat, McEwen in Victoria, Labor incumbent Rob Mitchell is ahead by 312 votes and is confident of victory.

Ask the public who was the most incompetent and the overwhelming response will be Julia Gillard.

As for whether Tony Abbott will be a good it bad leader, it is too early to say.

Ms Gillard told the AFR that Howes, 32, had done the right thing by pulling out of what was becoming a nasy brawl inside the NSW Right Faction and his withdrawal was far from the end of his political prospects. "I think Paul's decision exemplifies the kind of Labor culture we need to see more of. A culture of putting the party first," Ms Gillard said.
"Paul will make a big contribution to the labour movement. I am confident that at sometime in the future, we'll see Paul Howes in federal parliament as one of its best performers."

Labor left shifts weight to Shorten

Former federal minister Warren Snowdon is supporting Bill Shorten to become Labor's new parliamentary leader.
Mr Snowdon, who hails from the so-called "soft Left" faction, was expected to favour the left's leadership candidate Anthony Albanese.
But a spokesman told AAP on Friday the former veterans' affairs minister would be backing Mr Shorten, from the right faction.
Mr Snowdon's support is predicated on former ministerial colleague and left faction member Tanya Plibersek becoming Mr Shorten's deputy.
His decision is a sign left MPs in caucus have fractured over the leadership, which will for the first time be determined by a ballot evenly weighted between the caucus and grassroots ALP members.
The ballot opens on Tuesday and closes on October 9.
The caucus meets on October 10 to cast its vote for the new leader and the winner will be announced on October 13.
Mr Albanese has strong popular support among ordinary ALP members, but is understood to now have only about 40 per cent of the caucus behind him.

The two party preferred vote in the 2013 federal election for:
-ALP- 46.53 per cent
-Coalition- 53.47 per cent
There was a 3.3 per cent to the Coalition in the 2013 federal election.
