Can you provide some sort of a context to your question-i.e. is this a short answer question in relation to a given source, is this a part of an essay question? without giving some sort of a context where this question comes from-it is very hard for us to clarify the meaning of such a general question for you...

It is a short answer response to a related material i need to pick.

Well, it basically means what ideas about belonging is explored in your related text-which may or may not include what you have said, belonging and not belonging to community or place, but there are also many other possibilities depending on exactly what related text you have pick. but it would be best and safest to back up your response with some quotes and techniques
