lol do what interests you. No point taking a degree/getting into a job that you hate just because you don't have to talk in it. Get a good degree/find a good job, and you'll probably come to enjoy talking with your friends/work mates who share the same passion.

I hate to break it to you, but to make it through uni and/or be employed in any field with or without a degree, you'll have to talk more than you may want to. Generally to function as an adult in all areas of life you'll have to communicate with people quite a bit. In uni, you'll have to participate in tutorials, mingle with your peers, and possibly do some class presentations if required. Being employed is hard enough already, but surely it's near impossible with terrible social skills. Choose courses based on your interests, and hopefully you'll find it easier to socialise in an environment that suits your passions and involves like-minded people.

Are you socially anxious, or just very introverted, or something else? If your silence is caused by shyness (ie; this can change) and not innate personality, then I strongly advise against choosing your future based on a limiting quality of your present self. Even if you are simply introverted and won't ever change, why deny an interest in a certain subject area just because it may be out of your comfort zone socially? What happens if you come out of your shell in uni, but you've picked a degree you dislike simply because it offers the possibility of a slightly more reclusive career?

I think all courses will provide pathways and options to a career that you will feel comfortable and 'fit in'. Try to think about what course you may be interested in on the basis of interests, among other things. For example, if you are interested in science, you can specalise and major in an area that is more 'behind the scenes'/quiet nature, e.g. possibly research, or technician, compared to something that requires more of an amicable, outgoing nature (e.g. doctor). This link may help you with finding the right course for you: http://www.studymyway.com/studying-in-australia/decide-study-choice/
Hope that helps :)

Ultimately, you need to communicate in pretty much every job out there.... what is the cause of it?

Even in the interview they will judge you and will tell that you are a quiet person.... meaning you wont get hired.

You should tell us a bit more about your interests, is there a particular reason why you don't talk at all? Are you scared of being judged? Are you afraid you might say something wrong? You should look beyond the fact you don't talk much, and consider your actual skill sets and interests, communication skills can be developed over time, and even if it is not a job interview, even in uni, in making new friends you would need to develop some communication skills. Don't be afraid to talk-because when you use it powerfully, it can change the world, consider Obama's election speech (the first one). Best wishes for deciding a course you like:)

What is the point of living life if you are not constantly challenging yourself? If you are not living outside of your comfort zone? If you are not achieving growth?

Who says you have to stay a quiet person... Get out of your comfort zone, do something you really, really want to do... You will get to the point where you understand that people are people, so to speak...

You might surprise yourself and find out that you have the gift of the gab...
