oo thats tough. I'd probs go Uq unbonded if i were you though. You can chill for 3 years before medschool but you'd be moving interstate which is hard-ish.

I recommend taking UQ, and resit the UMAT this year and try to get into a NSW med school. Even if you don't make it into a NSW school, unbonded is always better than bonded.

Offer: UNSW
UMAT: 84 percentile
Bonded/Unbonded: bonded
Special Considerations: EAS kid

Gonna call the med faculty tomorrow to see if I have a chance of being upgraded to unbonded in later rounds.

if u graduate in 5 years u are out in the workforce and earning enough to pay off your bond anyway

some would argue getting into the workforce earlier, especially in a career like medicine where the path to becoming a specialist (if u so choose) is so many additional years, is a pretty great incentive to take a 5 year degree

some would prefer to have the extra years in uni and not have to pay off a bond (keep in mind that while ur spending ur last 2 years in uni with this option people who took the 5 year degree are already out and earning), all im saying is it isn't *that* black and white as bonded always being better than unbonded regardless of the other factors of the courses (location, finances, length of degree, course content etc.)

Damn gurl, did you do really well in your interview?
I got same UMAT and atar 99.05 and rejected, hopefully i will make later rounds...
Btw if you call the Uni and ask what number you are on the 'reserve list'/chances of getting in do they actually tell you?

Honestly, I came out of the interview feeling like I could've done better (I was nervous and I think it showed). I guess I made up for it with some of my answers (ie. I was very clear about my goals and motivations) and maybe because of my work/volunteer experiences, too. I'm still not too sure what they looked for in the interviews.

Not too sure if they'll tell you your number but it's worth a try. Guessing from your UMAT and ATAR you're probably high up on the list. Good luck for the later rounds!

His ATAR and UMAT are below the average. I would think his chances are quite low but you can call to ask who knows you might have done well in interviews.

Why do so many people encourage unbonded over bonded. Entering the work force early whilst still living at home will allow you to pay off the bond in 1 year. Also requirements of training you will end up fulfilling some or all of your bond criteria anyway. People are giving advice without even understanding what BONDED actually entails. Sigh..
