Hello everyone,

Little less than two weeks before HSC officially starts and I’m kinda scared of what my ranks are looking like and even worse my ATAR. The reason why I’m scared is coz I got conditional offers from two unis that ask me to get 68-69 atar to get into my course but I don’t think i’m gonna make it in. My ranks aren’t the best, (especially math ☠). Do I still have a chance though? I’m cramming in a lot of revision for HSC rn but I’m still expecting to do average for all of them tbh. These are my ranks:

Maths Advanced - 31/46 (58% in trials) - 11 Band 6 (2023)
Industrial technology - 3/20 (83% in trials) - 0 Band 6 (2023)
Biology - 13/33 (70% in trials) - 1 Band 6 (2023)
Business Studies - 27/60 (70% in trials) - 4 Band 6 (2023)
Legal Studies - 5/16 (66% in trials) - 0 Band 6 (2023)
English Standard - 9/56 (75% in trials) - 0 Band 6 (2023)

Side note, our maths advanced cohort is actually really good from what i've heard. And also, if any of you mind, what are some good ways of practising for HSC? School is also decent. We got top 150 schools in 2022 from what I remember

I'd definitely recommend doing past papers first to see what topics you're lacking in and then revising the content you're struggling in. Also try a HSC paper and then scale yourself according to the rawmarks database to get a sort of gist as to where you're standing externally. You don't want to waste all your time relearning content so try to be efficient^^ Good luck!! You'll definitely get 70+ with some hard work to up your externals 🙏

@jimmysmith560 sorry for tagging but can you give an estimate since you know how this stuff works 🥺
In the interests of maximising estimate accuracy, would you be able to provide the number of band 6's achieved at your school in each of your subjects (for example, 5 band 6's in Mathematics Advanced)? You can find this information on HSCninja. :)

From this information, you seem to be on track with an ATAR of up to 69.5. This essentially means that your ATAR goal of 70+ is definitely within reach, as long as you perform at a slightly higher standard in your HSC exams.

Industrial Technology is your best-performing subject. This means that it is likely to make the best contribution to your ATAR compared to the rest of your subjects. Based on this, it is important to thoroughly prepare for this subject's HSC exam (hopefully you did well in the major work component), allowing you to ensure favourable overall performance and maximise this subject's contribution to your ATAR.

Mathematics Advanced, Business Studies and English Standard are some of your lower-performing subjects. This indicates that there are areas of improvement in each that you can work on addressing as you continue to prepare for your HSC exams. This will help you improve your overall performance in each, and consequently bring you closer to your ATAR goal.

On the other hand, Biology and Legal Studies appear to be your lowest-performing subjects. Since you are taking 12 units, one of them likely will not count towards your ATAR. However, it would still be good to do your utmost in preparation for their HSC exam to minimise the chances of these subjects preventing you from reaching your desired ATAR.

I hope this helps! :D
