    Human Story Option

I thought the whole paper was groovy up until i got to the Human Story option! What on EARTH is maternal mitochondrial DNA?!?!? My whole grade (who does biology) came out of the exam asking the same question. I don't think our teacher's even mentioned it before! I just made up some crap which...

    my multiple choice answers

Actually, the capitol 'T' represents the dominant allele, therefore, all heterozygous (ie, Tt) offspring are counted as showing the dominant allele; therefore, it is a ration of 3:1 where for every 3 dominant phenotypes shown, there is 1 recessive. :)

Mathematics - General thoughts on the exam

I found the paper to be good up until question 8. Question 8 and 9 were challenging but doable. Q10 was REALLY hard. I could only answer the first bit. That, of course wasnt helped by the fact that I didn't manage my time properly and only had 10 minutes to do the entire question.

    Section 1

I didnt know what a nomad was either. When I was talking about it later with my dad, he got all worked up cos he couldnt believe i didnt know. Apparently it's someone who moves around a lot. Heaps of people came outof the exam saying 'wtf is a nomad' so you definately weren't alone. Luckily the...

    Section 2

Have you by any chance read the 'His Dark Materials' trilogy? It sounds similar to your description of your story, though it may not be. :P

    Section 1

I found this section really hard at first, but after reading it through for most of the 10 mins I began to realise the meanings. I dont know whether I interpreted the question about landscape properly or if I analysed the poem with as much detail as was needed, but in general, it was ok. I'm...

    Section 2

I thought the question was a little hard, cos all the questions i'd seen from previous years had a little bit more choice, but i was still able to make it fit with the opening sentence. My story was about a grandfather telling his granddaughter about her namessake... a little bit wierd, but it...

    Has anyone tried www.mathletics.com.au?

Has anyone tried Mathletics? I've heard it's good, but is it worth subscribing to? Does it actually help? I'd really like some opinions, if you've tried it. I'm thinking of signing up myself. Thanks in advance!

Is Liar Liar a valid related text for "Telling the Truth"

I was wondering whether it would be valid to use the movie Liar Liar, starring Jim Carrey, as my related text. I was thinking of useing the angle of the exaggerated character traits to prove a point and that the director is satirising the fact that everybody lies. Is this enough to create a...
