    General Thoughts: Chemistry

I agree, they weren't the standard calculations that you usually see. They made you think laterally, which was good as many people can't do that and there is very little room for lateral thinking, or applying your understanding in chemistry compared to other subjects.

Thank you, that's exactly what I was looking for :)

    Industrial Chemistry, Equillibrium Constant

Okay thanks for the help. But... you say when concentration/volume/pressure change, reactant and products shift accordingly, this is exactly the same case with temperature. For example with the Haber process, Increasign the pressure increases products and decreases reactants, also, similarly...

Does anyone 'understand' why temperature is the only factor that affects K for a given reaction. thanks.

Haha it's a common error but now you won't make it on tuesday!!

    Easy MC Question

    you're given a mass, but the answers are all in litres. from the graph you have 8mgL^-1 you have 10 L, therefore 80mg n = m/M = (80*10^-3)/(32) oxygen is diatomic therefore molecular mass = 16 + 16 n = 2.5*10^-3 Mol therefore V = n * 24.79 = 61.975 *10^-3 L = 62 mL not so easy after alll...

    BOD....

Hmmm, I probably could have kept it, but I wasn't ranked as well in ext 1 as I would have liked to have been after the half yearlies, and ext 2 was eating up way too much of my time and I found myself having to choose between 4U english and 4U math a lot which I didn't like. Plus they're so...

Nope, only 14, I made this account ages ago, didn't use it for a long time and forgot how to edit my signature, worked it out now though. Sorry to disappoint you.

Has anyone came across this dot point in the far right column- production of material

Re: Has anyone came across this dot point in the far right column- production of mate – The industrial production of ethanol from sugar-cane uses a few more chemicals (some of which are toxic) and processes compared to ethanol produced for consumption; also sugarcane is higher in simple sugars...

what is the difference between amphoteric and amphiprotic

All amphiprotic substances are amphoteric, but not all amphoteric substances are amphiprotic. Amphoteric substances can act as both an acid and a base, but as you know there are many ways a substance can do this (protons, electron pairs...) Amphprotic substances are a sub-branch of...

    All nighter anyone?

Haha, I did the same thing, I only started on Tuesday though, I don't know how you spent '56' hours on it and still needed to pull an all nighter the night before, I swear the course isn't that big. I thought you hadn't done anything at all and only started the night before the exam.
