I was told that the papers were marked by at least 5 markers. And wouldn't having more markers mean there is less chance of a huge discrepancy and distribution in marks?

Re: Raw mark for band 4? I'm 10th out of 24 at my school, and i'm pretty sure that ass may have been kicked in paper one, and slightly less ass kicked in paper 2. I'm expecting a 35/45 or more for paper 1, and a 45/60 ish for paper 2. 80/105. Do you reckon that'd be enough for a band 6?

That's sort of what i did, but without the writing stuff down bit. I took the exam to my tutor, and he went through it, and did most of it in his head. Then again, i did most of it in my head as well. That may be my downfall this time.

This is most helpful. Now to compare this, we need someone who applied for raw marks that got a band 5, and then use them as rough guides. Raw mark of 90% gets scaled to 96% eh. Depending on how maths turns out, i may or may not have to kiss my 88.00 goodbye.

Most of the state got in the band 3-5 range, which gives me hope for a band 4.

It doesn't. Board of studies probably wouldn't have them marked yet. These are predictions we make, based on the cut-offs from previous exams, and comparing their relative difficulty to this exam. So for all we know, a band 6 could only need a raw mark of 75, but considering it's IPT, probably not.

Hopefully everyone gets what they want. I know that for an ATAR of 88.00, i'll need every mark i can get.

Is this d)ii)? I think i ended up using the sum of an arithmetic series (and i'm beginning to suspect it wasn't) and got 23 point something. I have a feeling it's wrong.

I thought that first in the internals gets the top HSC mark regardless. And if someone beat first in the exam, then they'd get an average of theirs and first's mark. That's what i was told by my teacher, so i'm hoping he's not wrong.

It was 8. And i screwed up the last bit. I misread the question and put 8 units. I checked again later, and realised the part below the x-axis cancelled out the top part, and would've been |-2|, or 2. This present_value guy is just looking for trouble.
