    Lying about atar to parents?

Don't even bother lying to your parents, unless they are really uninformed, then they'll probably really suspicious about it. Also if you didn't manage to get into the course you wanted than your parents will definitely found out, and that will jeopardize their trust with you. My advice, just...

How many topics from HSC Maths have you finished in school???

Radians, logarithmic, calculus of functions, series and sequences, volumes including Simpsons, and trapezoidal rule, every single type of integration possible, and areas

    Help!

For part 1 you know that the length of arc is proportional to the size of the angle, (L = rθ) therefore in order for the ratios of AC:CB to be 2:1, the angles must be double of each other (AC = r2θ) (CB = rθ), now with this knowledge you can deduce 180°= 2θ + θ, now you can work out the angles...

    Calculating kJ from kJ/mol

I confirmed it with my teacher, the answer is 47.83kJ/mol

    James Ruse Controversy

Well it is his/her opinion so yes your teacher is right in saying that. Plus teachers get paid crap loads to mark HSC papers so they shouldn't really be complaining.

    Calculating kJ from kJ/mol

Yea I did plenty of times but I am not sure if my process was right, but it should be. What solution did you get?

    Calculating kJ from kJ/mol

One component of petrol is octane (C8H18). If the heat of combustion of Octane is -5464 kJ/mol then the heat that would be released by 1g of octane is: a) 33.67 kJ b)33670 kJ c)42.03 kJ d)162.26 kJ Through unit analysis I get 47.83 kJ (2d.p) but the answer is 33.67 kJ. Anybody willing...

    Quick multiple choice question

Yes it does since no other topic features coils and wires. (to my limited knowledge) The answer is definitely not 'a' since a stronger magnet would dramatically increase the acceleration as the coil comes closer to the magnet, but I can see why you would pick it. The answer 'd' due to the...

    HSC Physics Marathon 2013-2015 Archive

Re: 2013 HSC physics marathon If our galaxy, the Milky Way, is 20 kiloparsecs or 65 000 light-years in radius, calculate how fast a spacecraft would need to travel so that its occupants could travel right across it in 45 years. Interesting question.

Relelvance of HSC Courses in Skill Building

I actually have a physics textbook from the pre 2001 syllabus. as you can see 2 pages from this textbook already has more maths than the entire 2001+ HSC syllabus. Anyways the you can blame John Howard for this dumbing down all the science courses, but Julia isn't doing a better job with the...

Relelvance of HSC Courses in Skill Building

I do agree with everything you said and I understand that not everybody doing HSC physics have exceptional skill in maths (which is why they should introduce advanced science course courses), but questions such as 'asses the impact on society and the environment of the potential applications of...

    Goals for 2013

Have a consistent study plan, and unlike term 4 2012, ill make sure to resist temptations of watching anime and general procrastination probably not going to happen. And obtain an atar of 90+ including a band 6 in 2u maths and E3 for extension maths, so i can get the bonus points.

    Hints for preparing tests

Here is a few links to that will help you for the hsc ^-^. http://www.phys.unsw.edu.au/~jw/exam.html http://www.phys.unsw.edu.au/~jw/studying.html Although it is mainly for physics students in unsw, I'm pretty sure they can be applied to all subjects in the hsc :)

Relelvance of HSC Courses in Skill Building

HSC physics is probably the worst science subject that the board of studies managed to produce, and I have no idea why many universities bother listing down as assumed knowledge. The entire course contains hardly any mathematics, and calculations. Instead tells you 'explain how this discovery...

    Math annunity question

I understand where you are coming from, but this question constantly mentions the word 'monthly' so it is safe to assume that the interest is compounded monthly. Plus this question is from Maths in Focus so I wouldn't so concerned about any small details.
