    ANU@Citigate.......wooo!(sarcastic)

Or get axe-murdered :p You and the Carotel kids will get first preference in the semester break, so really if we start uni in late Feb and break starts in June it's only about 3-4 months right?

That's true. Even if people's primary interest in ANU is academic, if they're relocating, a first year accomodation guarantee really sweetens the deal. For example, somebody could just choose to live in their hometown for their Bachelor's and then choose to do postgrad at ANU because they then...

Wow. I am suddenly thanking my lucky stars that I got into Uni Gardens. This is so shit for everyone!

Who got offered a place a Carotel?

Check the NO accomodation thread, I think a few pages back someone mentioned getting a place there.

New plan: come crash uni gardens.

What is it though? What are the facilities/rooms like?

    Still nothing?

It says "walking distance" but that could mean anything from 2 minutes to 20.

... I can't believe this. That is GODAWFUL for both of you. ARGH. I'd make a formal complaint as soon as you get there if I were you! That is amazingly slack!

I hear you're not allowed to use the hotel facilities though... that's probably why ANU can afford to book them and charge people $163, the hotel probably gives it to them at a discounted rate, otherwise the uni would be making a huge loss.

    Fingers crossed!

Any word on what you guys are gonna do for laundry and cooking?
  13. G

Nah, I meant that there'll be some people in it at UoC (it says entirely for students, not ANU students specifically) but that's a super lame university and I don't think many people would be coming from outside just to go there, so ANU has probably beggared the extra rooms off of UoC, which...

I feel for you guys :( I thought that the whole point of having a building to ourselves (Maybe it's meant for UoC students but it's not full?) would be that all of us could be together, not spread out across Toad/Motels/Uni Gardens.

I don't know what it is, like compare China and Vietnam and they're not that different, socialism triumphs over selfish capitalist ruling class and all that. Maybe it's just because I know Ho Chi Minh didn't live long enough to do the sort of crap that Mao did during the Cultural Revolution...

Whoa they can actually do that? I guess it makes sense... Just say you were living alone and you had to go and buy like Orange Essence to make a cake - you wouldn't be able to because of those stupid rules they have now!
  17. G

    NO accommodation

Some person on one of the other accom threads said apparently 20 or so people were being sent to Toad, and I expect the rest they'll try and squeeze into residencies and those left over will come to Gardens. Do we have an actual figure on how many people are 'extras'? The original post said...

If I had to do an Asian language it'd be Vietnamese - it has a Roman alphabet, thanks to the French. I epic fail at memorising characters. What kind of history are you doing? I did China 1900-49 and Indochina 1945-79 for HSC Modern History. China was so amazingly boring but Vietnam was really...
