I don't really know, but up until 1960 it was only for postgraduate studies, so maybe that's just where its prestige lies? That doesn't necessarily mean its undergrad courses are sub-par, just probably not what it's best known for.

I applied for Burgmann but didn't get in. I don't think it's the 'best', exactly, it just depends on what you want in a college - like from the tour I got of Johns it has the best music facilities and then of course whether you want catered or non-catered. Ursula is my next choice; hopefully...

I live in Sydney and I'm going to ANU... I'm going to stab a guess and say there are quite a few of us. As for the reputations of the colleges - try the FAQ, and there are assorted threads around that discuss it too.

UAC applications open around the beginning of August, most uni open days are late August/early September and applications close in mid-late September, so you have about a month and a half to apply through UAC. ATARs are being given out (this year) on December 17, a day after your HSC results...
