Noob Medicine Questions. Seeking Answers/Guidance From Almighty Medicine Gurus.

Prestige was more in the past as people respected doctors more. Nowadays, only the baby boomers seem to have that respect for doctors. The younger generation do not have the same attitude towards doctors. They tend to respect professionals who succeed in jobs such as IT, graphics design etc. In...

What do you mean by advance upwards? The pinnacle is starting your own company just like any other career. Applying to Medicine/ Dental after doing a Bachelor Degree

School holidays and 9-4pm job. How is teaching a high stress job compared to medicine I don't understand? There is an oversupply or teachers but there is also an oversupply of medical students. If you want the lowest stress job as a doctor you become a GP, but even then I would assume it's worse...

Applying to Medicine/ Dental after doing a Bachelor Degree

I don't see a point in knowing the ins and outs of application at this moment in time. It is almost the same as UAC. Jobs for med science graduates include research, lab work etc. in a multitude of fields depending on what you want. The problem is they aren't specialised in one area so people...

Noob Medicine Questions. Seeking Answers/Guidance From Almighty Medicine Gurus.

Whoops lol it's been a while since I revisited biology. With regards to chemistry yes I do agree it does help with pharmacology and biochemistry but being in my clinical years you don't need to know pharmacology or biochemistry in depth. Perhaps UWS course is a different on immunology when I...

Noob Medicine Questions. Seeking Answers/Guidance From Almighty Medicine Gurus.

Medicine is superficial you do not learn all of immunology in 1-4 lectures. I did immunology for 1 semester and it was hell of a lot more in depth and they required me to memorise a lot more knowledge than compared to immunology in medicine.

Noob Medicine Questions. Seeking Answers/Guidance From Almighty Medicine Gurus.

I'm a bit short on time but I'll try answer as many questions as I can succinctly. GAMSAT is not "more" distinguished, it's harder because people who take it are older. You need to study a lot of science in order to sit the UMAT. It is draining and you will feel like you exercised for hrs...

    2nd Round Medicine Offers Advice!

QUICK TIP: If you have met the requirements for interview offers by looking at the UMAT percentile and ATAR table but have not received an interview offer a few days after release. Give the university you have applied to a call! A friend of mine met the requirements for UWS interviews but did...

    Teaching Vs. Pharmacy

Simple conclusion. Too many graduates not enough jobs. Super competitive to get a job. Companies opening chains means you most likely won't ever own your own pharmacy.

    Questions about Medical Science.

Lab work (hospitals, private companies etc.), PHD (lecturer). Overall pretty poor job prospects unless you have contacts.

Applying to Medicine/ Dental after doing a Bachelor Degree

If you apply for graduate medicine you don't apply through UAC. USYD has a a totally separate application process to all other graduate universities. If you are applying to an undergraduate university you may need to apply through UAC but I am not 100% sure on this. If you intend on doing the...

    Medicine

I will be honest with you. If you need direction to understand how to do every single little thing (including how to organise and plan......), you will no doubt fail medicine. Medicine is a self-directed course, you figure it out what works best for you. There is no "one" best way to approach...

James Cook medicine interview: What to wear?

I am an experienced interview tutor and I have tutored many students. Don't go smart casual, baby boomers don't understand smart casual. Your interviewers will most likely be 45+ years old. If you wear anything other than professional attire it may influence your interview score. I have spoken...
