    art scaling.. should i drop?!

Remember that although only 10 units of your marks added up count towards your UAI. All units are counted in the calculation of the scaling. This means if you are not working in a subject, then it will pull down all your other marks in the scaling process.

Relationship of electric field strength and Charge

If you are looking at proportionality you need to keep other things the same. So the force needs to be constant. So if you have a smaller charge, you will require a stronger electric field to obtain the same force.

    STAT questions.

    Staff with Partners = X Staff without partners = y Staff not going = Z X=Y>Z Total People going = 2X + y = 3x Total Staff = X+Y+Z = 2x+z Since X>Z, then 3X>2X+Z

    Sourcing of HSC questions

The exam committees are made up of experienced teachers that are not teaching the HSC that year. The exams are set up around the Objectives of the course, rather than the individual outcomes or dotpoints. The idea is to cover all objectives. The emphasis is on the HSC outcomes but the...

No it isn't the push as in a force or pressure.

black body intensity vs wavelength graph & hertz's experiment

The graph is not the plot of an individual photon of energy at each frequency. It is the sum of all the photons of an individual frequency. It is impossible to fill the very large frequency photons with the energy available, so they can't be released. (Simplified to try and help understanding)

black body intensity vs wavelength graph & hertz's experiment

Dumbledore, can you be specific about which HSC questions you are talking about. I can't recall them but it is extremely strange now to have a marking scheme or guidelines change after marking has commenced. If what your saying is true, then it would have occured at the piloting stage. A...

    Hertz experiment.

Easiest explanation is looking at his receiving spark coil. It only would spark, if the two gaps (transmitter and receiver) were parallel.

black body intensity vs wavelength graph & hertz's experiment

No what I mean is that in some questions bits of extraneous wrong information may be ignored in questions being marked to a low level. OR things which are wrong in physics are accepted because of the level of understanding required at high school level. For instance the common truck trailer...

black body intensity vs wavelength graph & hertz's experiment

You would be surprised what markers let go and stop k02033,even when they know what is wrong and right. The trouble with understanding the black body curve is that it is based on probability distributions that students haven't learnt about.

Using the gradient for a calculation

Not if it isn't a measured data point because there may be an error in the zero measurment. Like when a voltmeter doesn't return to zero exactly each time.

    zoning.

Those two are a bit further East than I know. I had a look at the department intranet and can't even find the answer there. It is probably easy to find if you are the principal. I know for high schools the maps are drawn by the school. Local Real Estate Agents generally know the areas as well.

Using the gradient for a calculation

You should clearly show the slope calculation, using two points, and clearly state you are equating the slope to the equation. Even if the line is going through 0,0 or is supposed to, make sure you are choosing points of the line. Eg. Slope = \frac{5-0}{0.05-0} Make sure the points you choose...

Which schools are you after Hermand? I haven't seen a map of them but do know some of the boundaries in the shire. Contact the individual schools is the longest but easiest way. otherwise the district offce should be able to help.

Using the gradient for a calculation

As soon as you say one point, I wonder if you are using the slope. Here a two systems to follow Write Equation that describes the relationship F=BIl Write it in form of y=mx + b In your case y= F, x=l F= BI x l + 0 so slope m=BI Calculate slope using rise/run and substitute in for m...

    Scaling In General Maths

The difficulty of the subject does not come into scaling. It is based on the cohort and how they do. Yes it is self selecting and the reasons given may be among the reason better students do the courses and they scale up but it is not the reason they scale more. The BOS doesn't scale any...

    Transformer Prac

If this was asked in the HSC a research task wouldn't be good enough. You would at least have to model it someway, which might be using a computer program or anything else but would have to be demonstrated.

    Probably a pretty stupid question.

No its not. Have a look at http://community.boredofstudies.org/134/uai-hsc-marks-technical-arcana/6642/explanation-hsc-marks-moderating.html
