    Deferring

Its a bit difficult to say what kind of average equals a particular kind of atar because universities let transfers in by demand (same way as atar). If there are not many people transferring, a credit average could be fine, but if lots of people are, you may need a D average or higher. Also some...

Also, this may apply to you: [posted on the USU Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/USUAccess] "IMPORTANT INFO FOR MEMBERS ABOUT ACCESS AND SMH UNI PASS. Due to a glitch in the registration process at O-Week, we unfortunately must reconfirm your subscription info, which can be done in...

    Semester 1 USYD Chatter Thread

Well I'm glad it went well, although that is frustrating regarding the historical/current affairs stuff. To be honest I didn't realise the GAMSAT tested that kind of stuff. I thought it was all personality/science stuff (although I've never actually looked into it). I did a good couple of...

    Night Classes

Perhaps someone will be able to correct me, but to be honest I don't know whether arts really offers night classes. I've never seen any running, nor seen any in the timetabling. I guess some Masters courses might, but I'm not sure about undergraduate BA. Sorry I can't be of more help...

    Semester 1 USYD Chatter Thread

I hope the GAMSAT went well! I'm currently sitting in the law library :( I did not miss this place. I wish Fisher would be properly up and running soon. Although having access to the law books are quite useful (and there are actually some left since its still pretty early in the semester).

    Cannot access Blackboard/eLearning.

I can access eLearning fine using safari on my macbook pro. I'm using Safari 5.1.3. Is safari still not working for you? (sometimes there can be intermittent problems with eLearning...)

    Semester 1 USYD Chatter Thread

afternoon naps are great! :p I think I'm going to go to the uni library tomorrow to make sure I get some work done. I'm not very good at working from home (especially when my housemates are having fun/going out etc). Sometimes being the only student in the house is quite difficult!

    Semester 1 USYD Chatter Thread

I would probably think about that, but I should probably get a start on it before I'm next in at work. As a side note, it took an hour to print it out double sided on my printer!

    Semester 1 USYD Chatter Thread

I hope the sprinklers weren't going in the law library! The assignment for my equity elective just came out - its based around a case that is 134 pages long. :( I don't know whether my printer is going to cope (let alone my sanity). Semester got stressful way to quickly!

    Badminton and Tennis?

Go check. But to my knowledge all the sports fields etc are run by the the sports union - I'm pretty sure the gym you are talking about (the one with Ralph's in it) is the Arena gym and that is also run by the union. I'm not sure why they would have different rules to the other gym (and in that...

    Badminton and Tennis?

Ok so generally to access any SU Sport stuff you need to be a member of the SU Sports Union - $50 yearly membership (aprox). General information can be found here: http://www.susf.com.au/page/membership_explained.html For access to tennis courts/squash courts and prices visit this link for...

    UWS Law - New opinions?

haha thanks aerath :p yes, just to add, when you do college of law through a firm you generally do it 'part time' over the year while you work. I have a friend who is at a smaller firm - they are paying but they don't have enough graduates to do it in house - so she is going to college of law...

    UWS Law - New opinions?

All law students who want to be a solicitor have to do college of law (well they have to do Practical Legal Training - PLT - college of law provides this). Most uni's don't include it in the law degree program though - they leave it for you to do afterwards. Some uni's such as UTS allow you to...

    Rural Medicine Scholarship

It's your decision, and make sure you read all the contract requirements/understand it fully before you sign up. I don't know much about medicine, or the different ways to do it etc however my personal opinion is if you want to be a doctor, and this is the way to do it, then I would say go for...

To drop out or to deffer?

Subjects dropped before the census date do not appear on your official academic transcript at all (which is all another institution would/could look at).

    External Hard-drives

MSY is generally cheaper than most of the large retailers. There's a store at ultimo (near UTS). http://www.msy.com.au/ (look up the 'parts pricelist') Eg. There is a WD 1.5T for $99

    Semester 1 USYD Chatter Thread

How often are your lecturers cancelled (and you aren't given any warning)? I think I've only had one or two experiences in my degree of rocking up to find a lecture cancelled. Most of the time they manage to send out an email/put an announcement on WebCT.

To drop out or to deffer?

I agree with May-Cat - don't let your parents dictate your life. Do something you enjoy. I think the advisor people should be able to help you - don't let it stress you out, talking it through can definitely help.

To drop out or to deffer?

I don't have much knowledge about this area, but couldn't you just 'drop' your law subjects for this semester (since its before the census date), pick up other arts subjects and then officially withdraw from the B Laws, and just do B Arts? Unless there are other things going on, I'm not sure...
