From my involvement in the actuarial student society, i have quite a few industry contacts. i'd say most employers don't really care what uni you came from. Academically, all they really care about is whether you have or will finish your degree. If there are exemptions you require on the way...

sif not. an entrepreneur is someone who makes profit from taking a risk. Knowing the crazy drop out rate and low labour demand, we actuaries make take a huge risk in doing the course, so we're already the craziest entrepreneurs, gambling with our lives.

i know some guys from high school who didnt get a high uai and chose to do non award. They all seemed to do it for 1 semester (6 months), so I'd assume that's the better option? They all went into things like early childhood education etc. In regards to degree being cut shorter, I'm not too...

i think we've all said this many times, but here it is again. We advise from personal experience that if you cant get into acst through hsc, and plan on transfering then working really hard, that *working really hard* bit just doesnt tend to happen =/, and u end up wasting time and money.

well its really same thing.. like say the goods market model u learn in econ110 use simple autoregressive process of order 1..whereas we juz model everything including more hardcore stuff like prob of someone jumping off a 200m building given it's 2pm and the sky is cloudy... :(

i havent done econ141 but um..basically Q1. If X is N(10,4) & Y is N(25,9) N(someting) means this random variable is distributed according to standard normal. N(10,4) means 10 is the mean and 4 is the variance. The expected value of X is the mean of X So that's how he got E(X)=10...

well u cant juz multiply those 2 things there coz u see they arent independent probabilties. plus if u dont get ur fiaa immediately, juz means u keep going for it....until ur 65... and that would a negative binomial... *calculates the expected value of yrs that it takes to get fiaa*...
