    Holidays and summer session

summer session usually goes from 12/12-23/12 and then continues (after the christmas holidays) from 02/01-20/02, which is about 9 weeks. some subjects offer a summer session, while most don't. the majority of the students at uni don't do it just so you know. 28/11-12/12 are holidays

    Orientation Week 2006- you going?

you'll just pay slightly more for the things that you use, and you wont be paying any longer for the things you don't use. they say it'll severely cut down the amount of social events available to students, but i doubt that it's completely true - it just looked like a silly anti vsu marketing...

    Orientation Week 2006- you going?

I only went for 2 days last year IIRC. There's not much point in going for any more because it's pretty much all the same shit every day. Well, the night events are sometimes pretty decent so it's good to go to most of them, but the day events are pretty ordinary.

    Unsw Lab Coat\goggles Shop!!

buy your goggles from optometry clinic (ask someone in the optom building if you don't know where it is - optom building is near mcdonalds). they're a lot more comfortable and they're adjustable to suit your head size. i found the ones near zippys to be extremely bad to wear and they didn't fit...

    UNSW Chemistry Bridging Course...

Dr Singh is a shit lecturer. A few people from my course complained about her to the head office a few times and she got so pissed off :p I wasn't there to witness it though... i was too busy jigging her lecturers cos all her slides were up on the net and she didn't really say anything different...

    General maths -> 2u maths?

just learn it when the lecturers teach you. 3U maths really isn't hard to learn, and you shouldn't waste your precious holidays labouring over something you're going to learn in uni anyway. like someone said, many people came from 2U or 3U classes in high school, yet they did fine in 4U based...

    UNSW Chemistry Bridging Course...

Chem labs are located along that white enclosed pathway underneath all that construction work. You can get to it going through the entrance near the bookshop or going through the entrance near applied science/1st stop high street.

    Internet Access at UNSW

I know this is highly dodgey, but I saw a few people in the FBE building connecting up their laptops via a cable to the internet sockets. Man did he download things off bittorrent fast :D

    UNSW Chemistry Bridging Course...

For anyone that cares, you can be lab coats from the uniform shop at the top of those massive stairs going up from the quad. For good quality goggles, get them from the optometry building... the others really suck and they're soooo uncomfortable to wear during those really fkn hot chem labs.

Curiosity Got The Better Of Me

I only know of two people doing B Education, and one is a guy - the other is my next door neighbour :p Yeah there's usually heaps of science students doing similar subjects with people from other faculties such as engineering so it's cool in that respect. But after 1st year, you see less and...

I'll be there for a summer session subject. It's gonna be interesting seeing the uni filled with people again, after enjoying a near empty uni for the past month.

Curiosity Got The Better Of Me

I only know one guy from my school that's in my course (civil engineering). The rest are doing med, commerce or optom... that's what happens when you go to a smart high school :p I hardly ever see any of the other guys around uni. At best it'd be like once a month because of timetable...

    Studying @ UNSW – a guide from a student

Just buy whatever is cheapest... or nothing at all. Chances are you wont even use it that much because of the abundance of lecture notes/tutorial notes available at your disposal. This is ofcourse not sound advice for people that want to do every question they can get a hold of, but instead...

    Question regarding lecture/tuts/labs sessions

Lectures usually have different speeds in which they go at (depending on lecturer), so you'd probably find that if you go to another lecture you'll be quite confused :) Just copy notes off friends from your original lecturer/print them off if they're available... sif you need to listen to some...
