    a locus question

    for the gradient in terms of t: y = 3t^2; dy/dt = 6t; x = t^3; dx/dt = 3t^2; dy/dx = (dy/dt)/(dx/dt) = 6t/3t^2 = 2/t; use line eq. y - 3t^2 = (2/t) * (x - t^3); ty - 3t^3 = 2x - 2t^3; ty = 2x + t^3; y = 2x/t + t^2; I got the tangent equation.. now, I don't fully...

Think librarians don't trust you? Maybe google search would work :). i also had problems with librarians before, but it's ok now. They're not really teachers, they're librarians. They don't know how to treat or trust people normally, since most of the time in my school they had to take...

    What topics have you done?

RANT :: was accelerated last year, and there was this chick older than me in the class, who also got very similar result to yours. Seems like our class is really good. But the class went really bad, The top exam mark for 3unit was 96, by an 11th/16 ranker, proving how bad everyone went.. Now...

    Another Hyperbola Q

    seems like, when I use the distance equation i got RQ as :: X distance :: = a/(sec@ - tan@) + a/(sec@ + tan@) = (asec@ + atan@ - asec@ + atan@)/(sec^2@ - tan^2@) = 2atan@ similarly, Y distance = 2asec@ RQ = sqrt(X^2 + Y^2); RQ = sqrt(4*a^2 tan^2 @ + 4*b^2 sec^2 @); RQ = 2 *...

Crazy Integral, Solution or Suggestions please!!

I'd love to think that this thing is outside the reach of the syllabus, but it drives me crazy thinking of the right substitution.. I still got my chem assignment to do..

    Conic Hyperbola

hey.., in exam situations, are you required to deduce the tangent equations? and, it seems that my way requires using the distance formula.. is there a better method than this? edit: I see the answer now. seems i posted a bit too late.. edit: indeed elegant

    integrate : sin(mx)cos(mx)

i just forgot what's the most effective way to do it? when either n or m is odd, it's kind-of confusing.. example : integrate : sin(5x)cos(3x)dx

Do you believe in last minute studying?

the Art of Cramming is essential for your HSC year. It may save you during hard times, and mastering this skill is very rewarding. Although the complicacy involved with mastering the skills of cramming information into your cranium effectively may lead you to the wrong way, trying is alway worth...

    differentiate : sqrt(16-x^2).. i forgot..

seems that i've been bludging, but how do you differentiate: y = sqrt(16-x^2) sqrt is square root of by the way. i did get the right answer by implicitly differentiating y^2 = 16 - x^2 but is there any way other than implicit differentiation? looks like i have shown myself a sign...

    dot point- SPACE

What I say might not be correct, but with length contractions, space objects would seem to be of wrong dimensions, and cause difficulties in navigation. Therefore there could be dangers of colliding to asteroids because it seems "flat", and therefore a new technology for computerised navigation...

    Graphing programs?

people, have any idea on graphing programs suitable for a 4unit student? Im also wondering if there's any function calculator that can differentiate things as well :D I use MathGV, http://www.mathgv.com, and it's easy to use, and have shading property. It creates from simple to advanced...

    Interpret this c.n question..

there's this strange question from the past 4unit CSSA for complex numbers, The complex number z satisfies both : |z - 1| =< |z-i| and |z - 2 - 2i| =< 1 In an argand diagram indicate the region which contains the point P representing z. (I highlighted this region in orange, or...
